Abacus College offers a range
of courses providing students with a choice of routes to university. The college will advise on the course most suited to each student's age and
qualifications. Because the college is small, the senior staff know all
the students personally and help them in choosing their courses, in
drafting their applications to university, and in making long-term
career plans.
COURSES OFFERED
University Foundation Programme
A Level
(A2 & AS)
GCSE
Students may enter the college at any stage in the English education
system from Year 10 to Year 13, depending on qualifications, or after
high school graduation for the Abacus University Foundation Programme.
ENTRY TO UNIVERSITIES IN THE UK
Entry to universities in the UK is competitive and Abacus College provides
a comprehensive UCAS (University and Colleges Admissions Service)
advisory service, which aims to help students gain entrance to the
universities and courses most suited to their needs.
The Academic Principal advises students on their university applications
and writes the academic reference required by UCAS. He also helps
students complete the UCAS application form and guides them through the
various stages in the process. On the UCAS form the students need to
record their choices of universities and courses as well as a statement
about themselves, their background, academic achievements and interests.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSES
Abacus College's sister college,
Oxford Language Centre, offers an essential support for those
students who wish to improve their knowledge of the English Language. Full
details are available on the
Oxford
Language Centre Web site.
